Wednesday Night Programs

Wednesday Night School
The Shaarie Torah Religious and Hebrew School, for students in grades seven through twelve, is held on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Students of this age are able to grow dramatically in Jewish wisdom, as the concepts they learned as young children are expanded, deepened, and solidified.

Education Director directs the Middle School and High School program, which is designed to satisfy the students' need for learning that is relevant, interesting, and challenging.

The program offers an opportunity to explore diverse subjects for the different age groups. Seventh- and eighth-graders will learn about Israel—its social, political and religious layers—and will also enter into the biblical worlds of our ancestors. Ninth- and tenth-graders will continue to explore those subjects and apply them further in their own lives. Eleventh- and twelth-graders will explore the different middot, or Jewish values, and the way they apply in their own lives. They will also be challenged with learning about Jewish thought by focusing on modern day events. Every Wednesday night will culminate in a discussion of current social and political events. Guest speakers and artists will provide a variety of enrichment to the program.

Dinner will be served at 6:00pm. Dinner time is a social avenue for our teens to mingle with one another and develop friendships, an important element in developing a strong Jewish identity. We urge all the students to participate. There is a nominal fee for dinners.
